Ralph Martin and Moysés Azevedo appointed to Vatican dicastery for New Evangelisation

The Vatican Press Office announced on December 7th, 2011 that Pope Benedict XVI appointed Ralph Martin and Moysés Azevedo as consultors to the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelisation.
They, among other consultors, are experts who will give assistance to the dicastery on particular issues in the new evangelisation field.
We are happy that two members of the CCR have been called to serve the Church at this important level in Vatican.

Ralph Martin
Dr. Ralph Martin is a pioneer of CCR from the very beginning and in the early 70’s he started the International Communication Office (ICO) in Ann Arbor, USA, that —with the involvement of Card. Suenens— was transformed first into ICCRO (1981) and later into ICCRS (1993). He served as director and member of ICO/ICCRO from 1972 to 1985, being the chariman of the international council from 1977 to 1978.
Ralph is an internationally known speaker. He is the founder and president of Renewal Ministries, which he established in 1980 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to renew the faith of Catholics through retreats, publications, conferences, and through television and radio. He has published numerous books, articles, pamphlets and videos. He holds a doctorate in sacred theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome.
Moysés Azevedo
Moysés Azevedo is a consecrated celibate, founder and moderator of Shalom Catholic Communty, an international association of the faithful that started more than 25 years ago and now is present in 8 countries. The community is specifically committed to evangelisation and Christian instruction through spiritual retreat houses, art centres, a school, a human development association (which manages kindergartens, homes for the elderly and other services), projects for drug addicts, street children, etc. It also has 4 radio stations, a publishing house and an training institute.
He is currently Vice-president of the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities and Fellowships. He participated as auditor to two Synod of Bishops in Vatican (2005 and 2008) and in 2007 he attended the V Conference of Latin American Bishops to represent the lay movements. From 2007 he is a consultor to the Pontifical Council for the Laity.
It is a piece of good news to hear of Dr Martin’s appointment. He has served God’s people and God will continue to elevate him.

Estoy muy contento que nuestro querido Ralph y el hno Azevedo hayan sido convocados por el Papa para trabajar en la Nueva Evangelización a nivel mundial, puedo decirlo con pena, que son pocos lo líderes que tienen una vision clara de lo que quiere Dios para la Iglesia en los años que vienen. Los verdaderos líderes como Ralph a quien conozco si tienen las “cosas claras”. No dudamos que el Espiritu Santo, ha inspirado una vez mas a nuestro Papa.
Que dos personas tan cualificadas puedan impulsar, desde la nueva responsabilidad eclesial, la nueva evangelización a todos aquellos que humildemente buscan encontrarse con el Señor.
